(PLAINFIELD) - Sixty people have begun training as members of the 90th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.

The recruits reported Sunday to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield, where they will begin the rigorous training required to become Indiana State Police troopers.

Indiana State Police say seven members of the academy are expected to be assigned to the Fort Wayne Post following graduation.

Troopers from districts across the state traveled to the academy Sunday for "Blue Sunday," an event that gave recruits and their families an opportunity to meet the troopers who will support them throughout the training process.

The academy marks the first step toward a career with the Indiana State Police as recruits work toward earning the title of trooper.
