(COLDWATER) - Drivers along I-69 and in Union City will face lane restrictions, closures and detours beginning today as two major road projects get underway.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $1.9 million to repair more than 15 miles of I-69 between the Indiana state line and East Central Road near Kinderhook Township.
The work includes concrete repairs, joint resealing and chip-sealing along the shoulders.
Drivers should expect single-lane closures and other traffic restrictions through mid-October.
In Union City, crews are beginning a complete reconstruction of North Broadway Street between the cemetery area and the Broadway Street bridge.
The project also includes replacing concrete parking areas. Temporary road closures and traffic changes are expected while the work continues.
Village officials say businesses will remain accessible by sidewalk, side streets and nearby alternative parking areas.
