(NEW HAVEN) - Union Pacific's massive "Big Boy" steam locomotive is returning to northeast Indiana this week as it heads west following a historic trip to Philadelphia.

Big Boy No. 4014 is scheduled to make a 30-minute public stop in Continental, Ohio, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday before continuing west into New Haven.

Recommended viewing areas include Dawkins Road near Webster Road at Jefferson Township Park and the New Haven City Hall parking lot.

The locomotive will spend Wednesday night in New Haven, but the overnight stop will not be open to the public.

Big Boy is then expected to travel through downtown Fort Wayne around 9 a.m. Thursday before continuing west.

Officials are warning spectators to stay at least 25 feet from the tracks and avoid trespassing. Large crowds are also expected, and people planning to watch the locomotive are encouraged to arrive early.

The train passed through northeast Indiana in June on its way to Philadelphia as part of a coast-to-coast tour celebrating the United States' 250th birthday.

Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 is the world's largest operating steam locomotive and weighs about 1.2 million pounds. Twenty-five Big Boy locomotives were originally built for Union Pacific, with the first delivered in 1941.
