(ANGOLA) - Angola High School is searching for a new head football coach after longtime leader Andy Thomas announced his resignation today, ending a 12-year run at the helm of the Hornets.
In a written statement, Thomas said it had been "an honor and a privilege" to coach at Angola, thanking school leadership, his coaching staff, and generations of players for their dedication. He called the 2025 season "incredibly special" and one the school and community "will never forget."
School officials praised Thomas for his professionalism, integrity, and the culture he built -- one centered on accountability, toughness, and team-first values. They say his impact goes far beyond wins and losses, shaping student-athletes both on and off the field.
During his tenure, Thomas led the Hornets to three Sectional Championships, three Conference Titles, and earned recognition as the 2018 North All-Star Coach. Over the course of his full coaching career, he's collected six conference titles, five sectional crowns, a regional championship, and a previous selection as the 2010 North All-Star Coach.
Angola High School thanked Thomas and his family for their years of commitment and says the search for the next head coach will begin immediately.
