Auburn City Steakhouse will host Heroes to Hero on Sunday, November 8, benefiting the Master Trooper James R. Bailey Memorial Scholarship Fund. The event honors Master Trooper James R. Bailey, who served with the Indiana State Police for nearly 16 years before being killed in the line of duty in March 2023.
The fundraiser will feature an exclusive Horse Soldier Bourbon tasting, dinner, a silent auction with exclusive bourbon memorabilia, and more. Guests may choose from three ticket options: the bourbon tasting from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for $75; dinner for $175, which includes a prime rib and chicken buffet and a commemorative Horse Soldier Barrel Pick 6 Year Wheated Bourbon bottle; or the full experience for $250, which includes the tasting, cocktail hour, dinner, and commemorative bottle. Full-experience guests will also receive a $50 Auburn City Steakhouse gift certificate, thanks to an anonymous donor.
The bourbon tasting will include a "Whiskey and War Stories" presentation by a Horse Soldier Bourbon co-founder and U.S. Army Green Beret veteran. Tasting guests are welcome to stay for the cocktail hour and silent auction.
Proceeds will benefit the Master Trooper James R. Bailey Memorial Scholarship Fund held at the Community Foundation DeKalb County. Those unable to attend may support the fund through a direct donation online or by mailing or delivering a check payable to the Community Foundation DeKalb County, with "Master Trooper James R. Bailey Memorial Scholarship Fund" in the memo, to 700 S. Main St., Auburn, IN 46706.
