The Angola Historic Preservation Commission approved building maintenance and additions.
The Commission approved for Sean Elsten to repair masonry work on the rear of the building façade located at 85 S Public Square in Angola, Indiana. The maintenance is necessary and will require that all
new elements match the existing materials and colors.
Caleo Café located at 113 W Maumee St was approved to place an 18-inch vinyl black and white signage logo promoting it’s classic city cookies. It is removable, not permanent and doesn’t affect the structure in any way promoting.
Commission members also approved for two business to replace windowpanes, one at 202 W Gilmore St and another at 180 N Public Sq. They also discussed possibly salvaging a home at 100 North/200 West. A letter from the State cited they are not considering the property important and that the home will come down. Commission members discussed community interest in salvaging the house all together as well as things from inside house.
The Historic Preservation Commission will meet again on Tuesday, January 5 2021 at 5:30pm in a virtual meeting.
