Two Injured in Sunday Morning Crash

DEKALB COUNTY, IN – Two people were injured in a crash in DeKalb County early Sunday morning.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened at around 12:45 a.m. Authorities say Jayson Morley, age 18 of Rome City, was driving eastbound on County Road 40 when he failed to navigate a turn in the roadway and ran the vehicle off the road. The vehicle continued through a field until it came to a stop in a drainage ditch.

Police say Morley was distracted which caused the vehicle to run off the roadway.

The vehicle’s two passengers, Alea Stanley, age 20 of Kendallville, and Mason Castle, age 19 of Garrett, were injured and transported to Parkview Noble. Their injuries were reportedly non-life-threatening.

Morley, the driver, was not injured.

Assisting the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department was the Noble County Sheriff’s Department, Parkview Noble EMS, Parkview DeKalb EMS, Avilla Fire Department, and Avilla Motorworks.
