CONSTANTINE – The Constantine football team will be playing for a Division 6 Regional Championship Saturday afternoon.
Before that, they will give a special tribute to one of their long time supporters. For almost 60 years, Dr. Charles Zimont was the team physician for the Falcons. He could be seen on game days standing on the sidelines cheering on his home team, and tending to any injured players. In addition, Doc Zimont did thousands of sports physicals for Constantine athletes. It was his belief that no Constantine athlete should be deprived of playing sports because they could not afford a physical.
Doc Zimont is an icon in Constantine and considered the greatest Falcon of them all. Over the last few weeks, Doc's health has been in decline. To show appreciation for all the time and commitment he has given, the Constantine football team has something special planned.
As the Falcons leave for the Regional game, they will do a drive by at Zimont's house. The team and supporters will be leaving Eastside Elementary School Saturday at 10:30 AM, and then drive by Zimont's house on Water Street on their way out of town.
If you would to send a card or letter of support to Doc Zimont, you can send them to Constantine Public Schools, attention Doc Zimont, 1 Falcon Drive, Constantine, Michigan 49042.
