ANGOLA - The Child First Center’s Executive Director Cathy Parks requested funding from the Steuben County Board of Commissioners for the 2023 fiscal year on Monday.
The center was told by the Steuben County Commissioners that their 2023 budget was already in place and they were unable to comply with the request for 2023.
The Steuben County Board of Commissioners noted they would be interested in exploring options for 2024 during a later meeting.
Parks said the Child First Center has almost exhausted all of their state funding for upcoming 2023 and wanted to explore other options.
The nonprofit agency offers services to children and their families in counties across northeast Indiana.
The services include assisting abused children, domestic violence victims and families in crisis. They also offer support for families with newborns and improving parenting skills for those interested.
The center’s participation is voluntary, and their services are provided at no cost to the families.
“Children First is adamant in its belief that every child, regardless of limitations, deserves the opportunity to grow, to learn, and to achieve at the highest potential,” states their website childrenfirstcenter.org. .
The Children First Center is constantly looking for donations big or small from diapers and formula to monetary donations.
For more information on how to donate call the Children First Center at 260-925-3865.
