Indiana DNR Stocking 70K Walleye In Northern Indiana Lakes
Tuesday, October 18, 2022

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will stock fingerling walleyes in lakes across northern Indiana.

The DNR says it plans to stock nearly 70,000 fingerling walleyes in 14 lakes, including 10 in northeast Indiana, over the next few weeks.

Among them are Clear, Crooked and Turkey Lakes in Steuben County. Lagrange County lakes being stocked are Adams, Pretty, and Wall Lakes, while Sylvan Lake is the only Noble County lake being stocked.

The fingerlings that will be stocked are 4 to 7 inches long. The DNR says adult walleye typically reach 14 inches in length after two years of growth and 16 inches by their third year.

These walleye were grown at Fawn River State Fish Hatchery in Orland, Indiana (purchased from Gollon Bait and Fish Farm).
