(BRONSON) - Saturday night proved to be busy for the Bronson Fire Department.
Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber says his department was called out Saturday just after 8 PM for a car that crashed into a house at 427 Orland Road. Just three minutes later, the department was notified of a house fire at 1132 Holmes Road.
Rescue Unit 5 was sent to the Orland Road location and found a car had penetrated the house up to the windshield, and the engine compartment going into the basement. The homeowner was home at the time of the accident and was not injured.
Bronson Car 7, Engines 3, 2 and 6 along with Tankers 10, 4 and 8 all responded to the Holmes Road fire. They arrived and found heavy flames showing from one end of a single story house. The Burr Oak Fire Department provided a tanker and an engine to help put out the blaze, which took approximately 10,000 gallons of water to extinguish.
One dog perished in the fire. The occupants did not have renters’ insurance.
The house and contents were a total loss. The occupants were home when the fire broke out. One person was evaluated by Life Care Ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation. Firefighters were on scene for just over four hours.
Then just before 9:30 PM, the Bronson Fire Department received a report of a two car crash at U.S. 12 and Parham Road. Three units responded. No other information has been released about the accident.
