(INDIANAPOLIS) – A member of the Steuben County Commission has received a special honor.
Steuben County Commissioner Rick Shipe was elected District President of the Association of Indiana Counties’ (AIC) Northeast District during the district meeting held in DeKalb County.
Shipe says he was honored by the nomination from Councilman Dan Caruso and to be elected the Northeast District President. He says he is excited to represent the Northeast District at the state level.
As District President, Shipe will represent the elected county officials in the Northeast District of Indiana. That includes the following counties: Steuben, LaGrange, Adams, Allen, Blackford, DeKalb, Elkhart, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, Noble, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley.
There are six districts in the state. Shipe will serve on the AIC’s Board of Directors, which determines policies and legislative goals for the Association.
Rina Stuck, Wells County Recorder was elected District Vice President of the AIC Northeast District as well.
The Association of Indiana Counties, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established in 1957 for the betterment of county government. The various functions of the AIC include lobbying the Indiana General Assembly on behalf of counties, serving as liaison among counties, state and federal agencies as well as providing technical assistance and training to County officials and employees.
