A line of severe thunderstorms that packed wind gusts of nearly 60 miles per hour raced through the area late Monday afternoon leaving thousands without power.

Local authorities and emergency teams in Steuben County responded to several issues Monday evening including at least one fire and several downed trees and powerlines blocking roadways.

Lingering light rain across portions of the area will quickly shift off to the east early this morning, and skies will clear from west to east.

It will become breezy today, with afternoon west to northwest wind gusts up to around 25 mph.

An extended period of dry weather is in store through the remainder of the work week, with a warming trend into Friday.
